Longest flight in awhile at 10.5 hours, it was surprisingly very comfortable! I was sitting in the aisle seat (in the middle row), and when we took off I had someone sitting beside me. I fell asleep and when I awoke she was gone! She stayed in another seat somewhere else for the rest of the flight, so I had an empty middle seat which was lovely.
When I got to Rome I was fully exhausted! The plane landed at 6:30am (after leaving at 12:20am Bangkok time), but I knew I had to see some of the city. Thank goodness I’ve been here before and didn’t have to wait in any lines to go inside any buildings – I was sufficiently happy just seeing the outside.
So I spent the last two days wandering around the city, revisiting sites I saw with my mom 7 years ago, and just taking it easy. The food here is much heavier than the rice and noodles of Asia, so I’m giving my stomach some time to adjust.
Because it is such a small world, one of my friends from back home happened to be in Rome with her family, so we all met up for dinner my first night.
Tonight I’m catching the train to Florence, and am so excited as I’ve only heard wonderful things about this city.
